Use Case
Expired Contracts Charts allow traders to view historical price data for derivatives contracts that have already expired, providing valuable context for understanding how the market traded at specific expiry dates and what volume patterns surrounded expiry events.
Strategy
Use Expired Contracts Charts to study how the underlying instrument typically behaves around monthly or quarterly expiry dates. Identify recurring patterns such as max pain gravitational pulls near expiry and position your trades accordingly in the sessions leading into each expiry.
Common Mistakes
Do not assume that price patterns from prior expired contracts will repeat exactly in future expiries. Avoid using expired contract data for instruments where the open interest structure has fundamentally changed. Do not ignore that liquidity conditions near expiry are significantly different from mid-cycle conditions.
