Chart Settings

Overview

The platform allows users to customize their chart appearance through a comprehensive settings menu. These settings provide control over the visual aspects of the chart, enabling traders to personalize their charting environment to suit their preferences. Here’s a detailed guide on accessing and using the chart settings.

Accessing Chart Settings

  • The Chart Settings menu is located in the Top Right Corner of the platform.
  • Click on the settings icon, and a pop-up window will appear.
  • From the left panel of this pop-up, select the Chart Settings to access the customization options.

Customization Options

  1. Background Color

    • You can set the chart background to either a linear or gradient color.
    • This option allows you to create a more visually appealing chart backdrop that suits your preference.
  2. Watermark

    • Enable or disable a watermark on the chart.
    • The watermark typically displays the symbol and time frame in the background, providing a clear reference to the current chart settings.
  3. Background Skins

    • Choose from a variety of background skins to change the overall appearance of the chart.
    • These skins can help in enhancing chart readability and visual appeal.
  4. Crosshair

    • Toggle the crosshair feature on or off.
    • The crosshair is useful for precise analysis as it helps track exact data points on both the price and time axes.
  5. Price Line

    • Enable the price line to see the current price level of the asset displayed on the chart.
    • This feature helps in identifying the real-time market price on your chart.
  6. Day Breaks

    • Enable or disable day breaks to mark the start of a new trading day.
    • Day breaks can help in distinguishing different trading sessions on intraday charts.
  7. Grid Lines

    • Toggle the visibility of grid lines on the chart.
    • You can also adjust the grid line style to make the chart more organized and easier to interpret.

Conclusion

The chart settings provide a range of options to enhance your charting experience. Whether you prefer a minimalist design or a more detailed view, these settings allow you to tailor the charts to your specific needs, making technical analysis more efficient and visually intuitive.

Use Case

GoCharting Chart Settings control every aspect of how price data is displayed on the chart, including colour themes, bar type defaults, grid visibility, background settings, and session boundary display. Consistent chart configuration reduces visual friction during trading.

Strategy

Standardise your chart settings across all timeframes and instruments for a consistent visual environment. Use a dark background to reduce eye strain during long sessions. Set up separate colour themes for different market types (equities, futures, crypto) to immediately recognise which market you are looking at.

Common Mistakes

Do not change chart colour schemes during active trading hours — unfamiliar visual layouts increase decision-making errors. Avoid enabling too many grid lines that clutter the price action. Do not ignore the impact of background colour on your ability to quickly read candlestick colours.
