Footprint Charts & Cluster Charts
See inside every candle. GoCharting's footprint charts render the exact volume traded at each bid and ask price, turning traditional candlesticks into a high-resolution map of buyer vs. seller aggression — tick by tick.
What Are Footprint Charts?
A footprint chart (also called a cluster chart) splits each candle into a grid of price levels, showing the volume executed on the bid (sellers) and ask (buyers) at every tick. This lets you spot absorption (large volume with little price movement), exhaustion (delta flipping near highs/lows), and large institutional print clusters before price reacts.
- Bid/Ask Footprint — raw bid and ask volume at each price row
- Volume Footprint — total volume per row to identify high-volume nodes
- Delta Footprint — net buyer/seller aggression coloured by direction
- Imbalance Highlighting — automatically flags rows with >3× ask vs bid (or vice versa)
- Unfinished Business — marks price levels that closed without two-sided trade
