# The GoCharting Lipi skill

> Install GoCharting's own agent skill for Lipi in your AI agent, to write, convert, describe and fix Lipi scripts, and what the skill does not do.

The GoCharting Lipi skill is an agent skill for Lipi that GoCharting publishes as open source at [GoChartingOSS/gocharting-lipi](https://github.com/GoChartingOSS/gocharting-lipi). Your AI agent loads it and then writes Lipi with the same instructions and the same Lipi reference as GoCharting's own AI script tools.

## What it does

* **Converts** an indicator or strategy written in another language to Lipi.
* **Creates** a Lipi indicator or strategy from a plain description of what it should do.
* **Describes** a Lipi script: the public description that the GoCharting script library asks for when you publish.
* **Fixes** a script when the GoCharting editor reports an error.

## Install it

| Agent | How |
| - | - |
| Claude Code | `/plugin install gocharting-lipi --marketplace GoChartingOSS/gocharting-lipi`, or copy `skills/gocharting-lipi` into `.claude/skills/` |
| Claude app (claude.ai and Desktop) | Upload a ZIP whose top level is the `gocharting-lipi` folder: **Settings**, **Skills**, with code execution on |
| Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, Antigravity | Copy `skills/gocharting-lipi` into `.agents/skills/` or `~/.agents/skills/`, or install the repository as a plugin |
| Grok Build | Copy `skills/gocharting-lipi` into `.grok/skills/` or `~/.grok/skills/` |

A copied folder does not update itself. The repository's `CHANGELOG.md` lists what changed, and `plugin.json` names the current version.

## Use it

Ask your agent in plain words:

* `Make this indicator work on GoCharting:` followed by your code.
* `Write a GoCharting indicator that plots the 14-bar average true range in its own pane.`
* `Write the 150-character publish description for my GoCharting script.`

## What it does not do

* **It cannot compile.** Paste each script into the GoCharting script editor. If the editor reports an error, paste the error back and the skill fixes the script.
* **It makes no network call and runs no code.** It is instructions and the Lipi reference. Your agent still sends your conversation, including any code you paste, to its own model provider.
* **It executes no trades.** It writes scripts. A strategy you later run in GoCharting may place orders there, so review and test it first.
* Scripts and descriptions are written by AI. Review and test before use. Not financial advice.

## Before you convert or share

* Convert only code you have the right to convert. That excludes code you received only in a protected, invite-only, encrypted, obfuscated or compiled form, unless you wrote it or its owner allows it. Converting does not change the original's licence.
* The skill keeps a licence or author notice from the top of the original and marks each script as written by AI. Keep both when you share the script.
* Do not paste passwords, keys or other secrets.

## Licence and support

The whole package is Apache-2.0, the Lipi reference it carries included; see `LICENSE` and `NOTICE` in the repository. For help, write to [support@gocharting.com](mailto:support@gocharting.com).
