# Docs for AI tools

> Give an AI tool these docs as Markdown, connect its agent to the docs search server, or ask the docs assistant, and report a page that is wrong.

These docs are built to be read by AI tools as well as by people. Use the Markdown files, the search server or the docs assistant, depending on what your tool can do.

## Docs as Markdown

| What | Address | Use it to |
| - | - | - |
| Index of every page | `https://gocharting.com/docs/llms.txt` | Let a tool discover the pages, each with a short description |
| The whole manual in one file | `https://gocharting.com/docs/llms-full.txt` | Load all the text at once |
| One page | Add `.md` to its address, for example `https://gocharting.com/docs/scripting/getting-started/first-script.md` | Give a tool exactly one page |
| One page, by header | Request any page with `Accept: text/markdown` | Fetch Markdown from code |

The **Copy page** button on every page copies its Markdown.

## Search the docs from your AI tool

The documentation has a search server that follows the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It is read-only and needs no account. Its address is `https://gocharting.com/docs/mcp`.

> [tab] Claude Code
>
> ```bash theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/lipi.json","/languages/lipi-invalid.json"]}}
> claude mcp add --transport http gocharting-docs https://gocharting.com/docs/mcp
> ```

> [tab] Cursor
>
> Add the server to your Cursor `mcp.json`:
>
> ```json theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/lipi.json","/languages/lipi-invalid.json"]}}
> {
>   "mcpServers": {
>     "gocharting-docs": {
>       "url": "https://gocharting.com/docs/mcp"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```

> [tab] VS Code
>
> Add the server to your VS Code `mcp.json`:
>
> ```json theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/lipi.json","/languages/lipi-invalid.json"]}}
> {
>   "servers": {
>     "gocharting-docs": {
>       "type": "http",
>       "url": "https://gocharting.com/docs/mcp"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```

> [tab] Claude app
>
> In Claude settings, open **Connectors**, select **Add custom connector**, enter `GoCharting docs` as the name and `https://gocharting.com/docs/mcp` as the URL, then select **Add**.

The menu next to **Copy page** on every docs page can also copy the server address or the install command, or connect Cursor or VS Code in one step.

The server gives your agent three tools: one that searches the docs, one that reads pages as Markdown, and one that reports a page that is wrong or out of date.

## Ask the docs assistant

Select **Ask Assistant** at the top of any page, or press `Ctrl+I`. The assistant answers from these docs and links the pages it used. If it cannot find an answer in the docs, it says so. Its answers are written by AI, so they can be wrong and are not investment advice: check the linked pages, and never paste passwords or keys.

## Report a page that is wrong

Use the thumbs at the bottom of a page. An AI tool connected to the search server can report a page itself.

## The skill is separate

To have your agent write Lipi, use [the Lipi skill](https://gocharting.com/docs/scripting/ai/skill.md). The skill carries its own copy of the reference, as of its version, and needs no connection to these docs.
